There’s nothing like the seeming demise of Twitter to underscore how I miss The Golden Age Of Blogging. So for several times a week at least, I think I’ll share some galleries of comics art scans that I’ve accumulated over the years. If the omens are right, I’d like to write a few things here too, every once in a while. Because it seems a shame to have a blog and not use it much at all.
So, to The Man Without Fear himself. Why ever not? 🙂
1. Daredevil, by Michael Cho, from 2011.2. The Black Widow & Daredevil, by Paul Smith, 2000.3. Daredevil, by Bruce Timm, date unknown to me.4. Daredevil, by Kevin Nowlan, the original cover art for 1982’s The Comics Journal #77.5. Daredevil, by Moebius, from 1991.6. Daredevil in San Francisco, by Jerome Opena & Marte Gracia, the variant cover for 2014’s Daredevil 4:3.7. Daredevil starring on the cover of February 17th 1973’s The Mighty World Of Marvel #20, by, I believe, Jim Starlin & Joe Starlin. 8. A page of original art by David Mazzucchelli & Joe Rosen, with a Frank Miller script, from 1986’s magnificent Daredevil #233.9. Steve Dillon’s original cover art featuring the Punisher & Daredevil for 2000’s Wizard the Comics Magazine #105.10. Wally Wood’s preparatory sketches for 1965’s “Daredevil” #6. Incredible that this survived, but there the characters clearly are, The Ox, Mr Fear, Karen Page, Foggy Nelson & Daredevil himself.11. Marvel Comics Daredevil promo poster, by Joe Quesada, Jimmy Palmiotti & Tyson Wengler, using the cover art for 1998’s Daredevil #3.12. The Black Panther, Captain Marvel & Daredevil, a pencil sketch by Gene Colan, 2004.13. Foggy Nelson getting in the way of Matt Murdock sleeping, from 2012’s Daredevil #12 by Mark Waid, Chris Samnee, Javier Rodriguez & Joe Caramagna.14. The Man Without Fear taking the cable car to Roosevelt Island, a single panel from Glenn Fabry’s original art for 2003’s Daredevil The Target #1.15. Daredevil, by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson, their original cover art for 1981’s Amazing Heroes #4.16. Charlie Cox as Dardevil & Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, from 2022’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, the 8th episode of which featured a DD/SH team-up that felt as if it had stepped direct from a very good issue of Marvel Team-Up. If you haven’t seen it and you can see it, then I heartily recommend 1:8 – “Ribbit And Rip It“.
There’ll be another gallery appearing here in two days time, on Thursday 10th 2022. Although I can’t say yet what its subject wil be. Perhaps you might pop in & take a look, if you’ve a moment to spare …

So much greatness! Wally Wood! Bruce Timm! Capping it off: punchline of that She-Hulk photo.
Today is a tough day in the US (and for the world). I’m grateful to have received this blog post and occupy/clear my mind with a Jim Starlin UK DD for a moment.
Hi Steven – thanks for the kind words. And crikey, I’m nervous as heck about the elections even though I’m on the other side of the Big Pond. I know from recent elections here how high the stakes and how considerable the unease can be. I wish you well, both in terms of your chosen allegiances and your store of resilience when processing the outcome, whatever it may be. Me, I’m hoping for a truckload of resilience myself.

Where does the Moebius image come from?

It’s one of the posters he did for Marvel. All of which I’d happily hang on my wall. If I had the wall.
